Benchmarking the performance of cities across metrics related to energy, water and environment systems presents an opportunity to trigger policy learning, action, and cooperation to bring cities closer to sustainable development. The Sustainable Development of Energy, Water, and Environment Systems (SDEWES) Index benchmarks cities based on 7 dimensions, 35 main indicators, and about 25 sub-indicators.
