SCATS ‘Sydney Co-ordinated Adaptive Traffi c System’, is used in most capital cities and monitors real-time traffi c signals and vehicle volumes to coordinate adjacent traffi c signals to reduce traffi c congestion and optimise traffic flow (with the option for user intervention by control system operators).
